THE FIRST MULTISENSORY WATERCOLOR IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE
The project on which I’m working right now, called “The Steamsnail’s Beach”, perhaps, “the first multisensory watercolor immersive experience“, is a metaphor of the 3D virtual worlds of the future. The aim of this transdisciplinary research project is to create a fun and innovative artistic experience because I want that you be able to visit through the mixed reality, the watercolor entitled “The Steamsnail’s Beach” I have painted. Furthermore, this experience allows me to answer a question…
How can I imagine the mixed reality of the future or how I would like it to be?
In this first experience, Art + Technology + Acupuncture, stimulating all five senses, see and hear with Oculus Rift, feel with Acupuncture by my amazing collaborator Javier Soria, enhancing at a sensitive level the virtual experience of “walking” inside a watercolor. Taste with seawater, and smell with my amazing sponsor Vaqso, the smallest scent device for Virtual Reality.
* The snail’s shell is inspired by the Dragon’s roof terrace – Casa Batlló, a tribute to the great architect Gaudí.
“The treatment in question during the 1st multisensory immersive experience (18/6/2017), was aimed at needling the classical formula for regulating Shen Qi (soul, spirit or mind according to the translation of the Chinese classical texts).
Also within this formula we have added specific points to enhance the part of the Shen called “Po” (emotional or spiritual aspect related to the Lung), this aspect is responsible for regulating the sensitivity of the person, thus enhancing at a sensitive level the virtual experience of “walking” inside a watercolor”.

A TRANSDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH PROJECT
In its next phase, based on the opinion I will have from the public, I will select some of this pictorial images which function as “art concepts”, and I will transform into new “multisensory immersive experiences”.
Is a transdisciplinary research project because I will use a diversity of materials doing research into materials, research into the process, diversity of research and I will try to make a good integration of different fields, exploring and linking reality, augmented reality, virtual reality and augmented virtuality.
The scenographies of “the multisensory immersive experiences”, created from the acrylics on linen smooth canvas and watercolors on paper which function as “art concepts” and with which I am already testing for augmented reality, are characterized by a greater presence of animal-machines and human avatars in period dress, usually are designed or painted in grayscale with light warm to cold hues.
In the creative process, I combine my 3D models with digital photographies from the photo sessions I do with my amazing team of collaborators and epoch’s explorers, and/or I used to use as references, some elements from photographs with “no known copyright restrictions” (with and average antiquity/age of 100 years) for the preservation of the way in which they dressed, principles of architecture of the Belle Epoque period, etc.
MY MOST PREVALENT INFLUENCES
I try to create “the multisensory immersive experiences ” with a little fantasy, an air of sophistication and add my personal form of surreal humor, to create a parody or fine amusement but without any lack of respect for people.
One of the most prevalent influences in my work is the subgenre of science fiction, called “SteamPunk”, a subgenre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery.
Some of my other great influences are the Art Nouveau or the Catalan modernism (an international philosophy and style of art, architecture and applied art, especially the decorative arts – that was most popular during 1890–1910) and the Victorian architecture (mainly romantic medieval Gothic revival style).
TRANSFORMING THE EXHIBITION SPACES
In the last phase of the project, I’m going to transform the exhibition space into the “multisensory immersive experiences ”, and the public into avatars, dress up in vintage costumes, combining paintings and sculptures, with augmented reality, virtual reality, augmented virtuality and experimental music. In relation to can reflect about it, is my intention to provide this long-term project, with a theoretical context through a wider set of issues.
